Treatments
-
A therapeutic treatment designed to soothe the muscular system and promote a sense of calm and deep relaxation. Often light to moderate pressure is applied, using Swedish massage techniques, gentle music, and warm towels to help rejuvenate your mind and body. Whether you’re looking to alleviate stress, uplift your mood, or simply escape the daily grind, this treatment is for you.
-
Designed to minimise the build-up of fibrous tissue and relieve tension throughout the muscular and fascial network. The focus is on deeper layers of muscle and fascia where chronic restriction can disrupt correct muscle performance and range of movement. Sustained pressure is applied, using slow, deep strokes, always working within the limits of a client’s pain threshold.
-
Designed to enhance performance, prevent injuries and accelerate recovery. It involves a targeted approach that focuses on areas of the body that are healing or need relief. It often involves deeper, more intense pressure on specific muscle groups combined with trigger point therapy, stretching and mobilisation techniques.

Prenatal treatments are designed to soothe aches and pains, reduce puffiness, and promote relaxation. They are available to those in their second or third trimester (13+weeks). Treatments are completely tailored to suit the individual and their stage of pregnancy. A combination of different gentle techniques will be used, and positioning will be adapted to personal preference. Often the seated, side-lying, or semi-reclined positions are most comfortable, supported by cushions to ensure maximum comfort.
Postnatal treatments designed to ease the stress and pain the body has experienced during pregnancy. They are available to those when they feel ready following a healthy pregnancy and delivery. However, if you’ve had a caesarean-section you will usually need to wait at least 6 weeks for the scar tissue to heal.
It is recommended that you consult your doctor or healthcare professional before booking your first Prenatal or Postnatal Massage.

Benefits
Receiving a regular massage can have a profound effect on your mind and body. It enhances overall well-being by:
Providing a space for relaxation and rejuvenation
Alleviating pain, headaches, muscle tension and muscle imbalances
Improving posture, circulation and flexibility
Reducing anxiety and stress hormones by evoking relaxation
Promoting better quality of sleep
Accelerating the healing and repair for any sore spots, reducing DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)
Aftercare
To get the most from your treatment and prolong the many benefits of your massage, it is advised that clients follow this aftercare advice. It should help to reduce discomfort and aid the detoxification process.
What you can do:
Increase fluid intake to aid detoxification. Drink plenty of water / herbal teas as this will dilute and accelerate the expulsion of toxins
Avoid smoking (or at least cut down) / drinking alcohol / taking drugs as this will defeat the purpose of a detoxifying massage and cause dehydration
Avoid stimulants such as tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and other forms caffeine
Avoid strenuous exercise and carrying heavy objects / bags
Light stretches to keep the body feeling supple
Where possible, rest and relax to allow your body to heal and get an early night
A warm bath post-treatment is the perfect tonic to complete a self-care day. However, be aware that if you are carrying a muscle injury, a hot bath may increase inflammation so this may not be suitable
Contra-Actions
Massage is one of the safest forms of physical therapy and has many benefits on the human body. It is, however, important to be aware that you may experience after-effects following a treatment (especially one involving deep tissue work). These after-effects are called contra-actions. This is the body’s opportunity to release built up toxins and emotions. Remember that every body responds differently, so you may experience some, all, or none the following:
Excessive tiredness or lethargy
Excessive thirst
Cold-like symptoms due to toxins being released
Muscular aches / bruising / inflammation / erythema (red patches caused by increased blood flow to the capillaries)
Headaches / nausea / cramps / urgent need to urinate / bowel movements become more active
Heightened emotional state / mood and temperament
Recurrence of old symptoms
These symptoms are part of the natural healing cycle and are completely normal. They should only last between 24-48 hours after treatment; it would be unusual if they lasted any longer. If you have any concerns or questions, contact us.
